Freight is often the biggest logistics expense a company carries and the one it tracks least precisely. Hidden handling charges, half-empty trucks, failed deliveries and carrier rates nobody has benchmarked quietly erode margin while service slips.
Mastering Logistics and Transportation equips the people who plan and run movement with a complete method: positioning logistics as a value driver, exposing hidden costs, designing the distribution network, selecting modes, procuring and scoring carriers, synchronizing daily transport with the warehouse, and getting the last mile and international legs right.
Teams take it as 30 hours of self-paced online learning on the Blue Ocean learning platform, licensed by the organization and monitored through the administrator dashboard.
Each module ends in something a coordinator or manager can use the next day: a mode scoring sheet, a carrier scorecard, a daily transport planning model or a last-mile cost breakdown. Successful completion earns a digital, verifiable MBE credential, and the company keeps a completion record for every participant.
Companies whose service promise depends on trucks arriving full and on time will find several groups to enroll. Logistics coordinators who book carriers and chase shipments learn the planning model and scorecard discipline behind reliable delivery. Warehouse and distribution managers gain the network design and warehouse-transport synchronization content that reduces dock congestion.
Supply chain planners and inventory planners see how transport capacity and lead time should feed their plans. Procurement and sourcing specialists learn to include freight and hidden handling in sourcing decisions. Enrolling the coordinators together with the managers who set their targets produces the fastest change in daily practice.
Seventeen modules build from understanding to control to the future. Modules one and two define the landscape and position logistics as a performance driver. Module three exposes hidden costs. Modules four and five handle distribution network design and transport mode selection. Modules six and seven move to freight cost control and carrier evaluation.
Module eight covers daily transport planning and warehouse synchronization, module nine the last mile, and module ten international logistics and compliance. Modules eleven to fifteen bring in control towers, the TMS and WMS stack, resilience, green logistics and KPIs. Module sixteen surveys automation, AI and autonomous transport, and the capstone designs an end-to-end logistics transformation.
Module three is built for it. Participants learn the types and sources of hidden charges, how to quantify their financial impact, and the pitfalls that distort analysis. Module six adds the transport view, separating fixed from variable spend and tracing profit leakage, so the two modules together produce a defensible picture of what moving goods really takes out of the margin.
Yes. Module five treats mode choice as a strategic lever, compares road, rail, air, sea and courier on service and expense characteristics, then shows how to score and weight criteria for a specific business scenario. It finishes with multimodal strategies, so a team can justify a lane-by-lane decision instead of defaulting to whatever was used last year.
Module seven positions carrier partnerships as the backbone of service and covers freight negotiation and rate structures, the design of service level agreements, and the construction and use of a carrier scorecard. A coordinator comes away able to compare carriers on evidence, hold them to agreed service levels and carry performance data into the next negotiation.
Module nine is devoted to the last mile as the moment of truth for customer experience. It dissects last-mile delivery spend, identifies the drivers of customer satisfaction, and deals with failed deliveries, returns and reverse logistics. Distribution managers in e-commerce and retail will find it directly applicable to their daily performance reviews.
One module, the tenth, covers risk, opportunity and compliance in global trade, Incoterms and risk transfer, the customs clearance process and export and import documentation. It gives domestic logistics teams enough grounding to work with freight forwarders and customs brokers confidently; organizations that need full depth on trade terms can pair it with the Mastering Incoterms 2020 program.
At their own pace. The program lives on the Blue Ocean learning platform, available on web and the mobile app, with self-paced modules, digital study resources and templates, knowledge checks and practice assessments. There are no live sessions to attend, and the administrator dashboard shows the L&D team who is on track. A digital, verifiable MBE credential is awarded to each participant on successful completion.

Your organization licenses seats for a cohort or a whole team. Participants study the self-paced modules on the Blue Ocean learning platform, on web or mobile, and your administrator follows enrollment, progress and completion on a dashboard.
Yes. A pilot cohort in one department is a practical first step. Use the corporate license form, and a program advisor will map the relevant courses and license options to your teams.
