About the SHRBP Certification

Business leaders want an HR partner who understands the income statement, can forecast the workforce the growth plan needs and brings data to the conversation rather than policy. Many HRBPs were promoted from generalist roles without being taught any of it.

Strategic Human Resources Business Partner closes the gap. It reframes the HRBP mindset from service provider to strategic adviser, builds financial and commercial acumen, and then equips participants with the toolkit of the role: workforce planning, people analytics, performance architecture, organization design, talent and leadership development, and succession.

What You Will Learn

  • Explain how the HR business partner model evolved and where the HRBP sits in the enterprise
  • Operate as a strategic adviser with credibility, executive presence and knowledge of the value chain
  • Read an income statement, balance sheet and cash flow and connect people spend to results
  • Build a workforce plan with demand, supply, gap and scenario analysis tied to growth objectives
  • Move people analytics from descriptive to predictive and present insight through dashboards and storytelling
  • Design continuous performance management with OKRs, cascaded goals, coaching and calibration
  • Lead organization design and change using operating model principles and frameworks such as Kotter and ADKAR

Frequently Asked Questions

Our HRBPs are strong on HR but weak on finance. Is that covered?

Module three exists for that reason. Participants learn to read the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement, connect people spend to business performance, build a business case and calculate HR ROI, and present in the language the executive team uses. Combined with module two on the business model and value chain, it gives an HRBP the commercial grounding that earns a place in planning discussions.

How deep does the people analytics content go?

Two modules. Module five covers the analytics maturity journey from descriptive to predictive and prescriptive, how to turn data into insight a leader can act on, and the ethics, privacy and governance obligations that come with people data. Module six is practical: choosing leading and lagging metrics, designing HR dashboards and scorecards, the tooling spectrum from spreadsheets to enterprise platforms, and storytelling with data so the insight lands.

What will an HRBP be able to do about workforce planning?

Module four ties workforce plans to strategic objectives and growth. Participants learn demand, supply and gap analysis, scenario planning for different business futures, workforce segmentation, and the buy, build, borrow and bot options for closing each gap. An HRBP finishes able to sit with a business unit leader, translate the unit's growth plan into headcount and skills, and recommend how to source them.

Are succession and talent reviews handled with real examples?

Yes. Module ten identifies critical and pivotal roles, shows how to build and govern the talent review and the nine-box, and plans for succession risk and readiness. It then uses case studies in leadership transition and bench strength so participants test the method against realistic situations. Module nine prepares the ground with integrated talent strategy, competency models, leadership pipelines and the development of high-potential leaders.

How do we run it for HRBPs spread across business units and countries?

The 30 hours of self-paced content sit on the Blue Ocean learning platform, available on web and mobile, so each partner studies around their own business unit calendar with no scheduled sessions to coordinate. A corporate license covers the whole community, and the administrator dashboard gives the HR director enrollment, progress and completion for every participant. A pilot cohort with one business unit is a sensible first step.

Which credential do participants earn at the end?

On completing all 17 modules and the practice assessments, each participant receives a digital, verifiable MBE credential for Strategic Human Resources Business Partner, issued by Blue Ocean Corporation under the Mastering Business Excellence series. It is a Professional level credential. For the HR director, the completion record on the dashboard documents that every partner has been through the same commercial, analytical and talent curriculum.
